I have a rule on Oh My Veggies that I don’t blog about blogging, but I’m lifting that rule for today only. And after today we will never speak of this again! (Well, okay, I will speak of it. But not on Oh My Veggies.)
A lot of bloggers ask me to write posts with blogging tips and advice here, but it doesn’t really feel like a good fit for my blog, so I haven’t done it. But after a lot of hemming and hawing, I decided to make my portfolio blog into a blog about blogging. Yes, a blog about blogging! These are exciting times we’re living in, when a person can start a blog about blogging. There’s not much posted yet, but my intention is to write one post a week over there–I’ll be sharing what I’ve learned from running Oh My Veggies, posting interviews, and maybe talking about Real Housewives once in a while. But mostly talking about food blogging.
One of my first posts on my blogging blog about blogging was about how I set up my ads on Oh My Veggies. It got a lot of good feedback from my fellow food bloggers, so I expanded upon it and turned it into a book: How to Monetize Your Food Blog. Oh My Veggies started as a hobby and now it’s my business and I wanted to share how I did it. Because yes, it is possible to make an income from a food blog! And if I did it, there’s no reason why you can’t either.
In short, this is the book I wish I had when I started out as a blogger. If I had a time machine, I would go back in time and give myself a copy of this book. (I don’t have a time machine, but I’m working on it.) If you have a food blog and you don’t know where to begin when it comes to monetizing, this book will help you figure it out. And if you have monetized your blog, but you need a little help figuring out how to make the most of your ads, I have lots of details on how to do that in my book too.
I’m big on resources–I built Oh My Veggies as a resource for vegetarian cooking and my goal is to build my new blog as a resource for food blogging. In addition to the blog and the e-book, I’ve teamed up with Shay Bocks to design a DIY Media Kit Template to help you put together a professional media kit without hiring a designer and I’m also offering blog critiques for one-on-one blogging advice. So many exciting things!
