And a lonely little strawberry too. I picked about 50 blackberries last weekend and there’s at least 100 more that will be ready in a day or two. If you’re looking for a fruit that’s easy to grow, I can vouch for blackberries.
My dill and cilantro plants have already flowered. I thought I had finally figured out the trick to successfully growing cilantro last summer by putting it in the shade, but maybe it was just a fluke. Cilantro! Why are you so hard to groooow?!
Like a fool, I tried growing green onions from seed for two years. You know how you can grow green onions in your garden? Take the ends you cut off when you’re cooking and plant them right in the ground. And watch them grow like crazy. (Why am I the last to know you can do this?!) We never have to buy green onions anymore!
My zucchini, buttercup squash, and cucumber seedlings all died, so I decided to start some more. And on the left is a little pot of lemon basil.
Now that it’s warmer out, we let the cats out onto the porch all the time. I think Mochi would never come back inside if we didn’t make him. I planted perennials right outside of the porch, so there are always bees and hummingbirds buzzing around. Unfortunately, Mochi doesn’t understand the concept of screen, so he thinks he can get them.
Have you started harvesting anything from your garden this month?
