I'm pretty sure ours is the only house in our neighborhood that doesn't have a behemoth of a gas grill in the backyard. (The people behind us even have two gas grills!) I'm not sure if this is because we're vegetarian or because grilling sometimes seems like too much work and we're lazy. We do, however, have a little charcoal grill that we fire up on occasion during the summer months.
When meat eaters cook for vegetarians, frozen veggie burger patties are usually their go-to option. And don't get me wrong, I enjoy them! But if we're grilling for ourselves, it hardly seems worth all that effort for two little veggie burgers. When I grill, I want to grill something that's worth it! Well, here are 50 vegetarian grilling recipes that are totally worth it.

Grilling is always worth the effort for me. I've been grilling everything that'll stand still lately, nothing is safe! 🙂 For me what I deem possibly not worth the effort/trouble is the smoker box. I love the flavor it gives (especially fish) but having smoke billowing into my eyes and then smelling like I've camped for 5 days within 5 minutes is irritating.
Great recipe round up!
Kiersten says
Oh yeah, a smoker box is just way too advanced for me. Then again, I don't think those are meant for squash and mushrooms. 😉

Wow, thank you for this impressive list of vegetarian grilling options. My fiancé and I are only just now starting to experiment with grilled veggies...we've always stuck to the simple veggie kebab option. Last week we made an amazing (and simple!) grilled eggplant recipe from Forks Over Knives and that's when I decided we need to do this more often! Your recipe roundup will most certainly come in handy-thanks again 🙂
Kiersten says
You can't go wrong with kebabs, but there are definitely lots of other options out there!
Maria Tadic says
I always love these posts that you do. It's like a mini cookbook all in one day!
I like grilled - though not as much as my husband. We own a tiny little bodum grill that was only $100 bucks. It uses charcoal and is the perfect size for the two of us! But your right...it's a lot of effort!
Kiersten says
That's the grill we have! 😀 I won't lie, I totally bought it because I thought it was cute.
Grace @ Perpetual Nomming says
Grilled veggies will always be my number 1. Even when I did eat meat, I often chose the veggies over the meat! I've never tried grilled peaches, but they look great! When we used to live in America, we had a phase of grilling zucchini about 5 times a week in the summer. mmm good times!
Kiersten says
Grilled zucchini is so good! I actually have a grilled zucchini recipe scheduled for later this month. 🙂
Caitlin says
i loveeeee grilled vegetables. what a great round-up!
Hannah @Tales From The Last Frontier says
These look so awesome! I looove grilled veggie-goodness! I actually tried those Hawaiian Shish-Kabobs on Memorial Day. They were delicious! And, I totally am on the same page with the grilling thing. It seems like all of our neighbors have HUGE gas grills. We just use a little charcoal thing for all of our veggie endeavors 🙂
Kiersten says
Ooh, I'm glad to hear that because I want to make them too! 🙂
Alexis @ Hummusapien says
Fabulous list! I've got by eye on those grilled peaches and that thai corn with roasted peanuts. Why oh why have I never tried grilled peaches?! Oh, and grilled avocado is definitely at the top of my list, too!
Kiersten says
I love grilling fruit in the summer. I will grill just about everything, but stone fruits are the best. And pineapple!
Kare @ Kitchen Treaty says
I am laughing. I have a vegetarian grilling recipe round-up in drafts. But I was only up to about 10. I think I'll just defer to yours instead. 😉 Thank you for linking up my shish kabobs!
Kiersten says
I think we have some weird psychic connection going here. 🙂 But there are definitely enough good vegetarian grilling recipes for two posts!
Tanya Phillips says
Thank you! Hubby and I were wondering if it was worth it to get a grill seeing as how we would only be grilling veggies. Lots of great recipes here 🙂
Kiersten says
I think a small grill is definitely worth it. 🙂
Heidi @ Food Doodles says
Ahh, this makes me want a grill even more. We have to reserve our grilling for the weekend when we go out to my inlaws place but I really want one for our house. People around here grill all year long, which is weird since we live in Canada... but still. Everything looks delicious!
Kiersten says
That's funny, because here you really could grill all year because the weather is so mild, but I never see anyone in our neighborhood using their grills until late spring. 🙂
Angie@Angie's Recipes says
A delicious roundup, Kiersten.
Paula - bell'alimento says

Sommer @ ASpicyPerspective says
Great grilling recipes!
Aggie says
What a fantastic roundup!! We have 2 grills, a charcoal one and a gas one. I love cooking dinner on my gas grill, instead of dealing with my oven. And veggies are my #1 fave thing to grill! I recently grilled cauliflower & Vidalia onion in a grill basket and added it to quinoa for a salad, it was delicious!
Thanks so much for including that grilled squash pizza - a favorite!
Kiersten says
Grilled cauliflower! Now that's one I'll have to try soon. 🙂
Kari@Loaves n Dishes says
Thanks for including me in this awesome line up Kierstan! We don't have a grill at this time either; so any of my recipes that are grilled, I've made while visiting those who have grills.
Kiersten says
Hmm, good idea. Maybe I should see if I can borrow one of my neighbor's gas grills for a night!
Laura (Tutti Dolci) says

I want this list on my fridge! There are so many awesome ideas and recipes on here that I can't wait to try! We grill a lot over the summer, although most of the time it's just vegetables or tofu (weird, huh?). That's why this list is perfect. Thanks!
Kiersten says
Not weird at all! 😀 I love tofu on the grill!
