For those who follow a special diet, it can sometimes be a concern not knowing if there will be enough to eat when planning a trip. If you are vegetarian and planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, you can rest easy. Disney is one of the best places on earth to satisfy special diet needs. With over 140 restaurants to choose from, it can get overwhelming, so we've put together a list of some of the best vegetarian options at Disney World, by restaurant (dinner options, quick service and table service), to make your planning a little easier. There are many other choices outside of this list, so be sure to tell us your favorites, too!
Note that menus change quite often and are sometimes seasonal, so always check the menus we link to for the most up-to-date info. Another tip: let your server know about your preferences! Depending on the restaurant, there may be a separate vegetarian menu or the chef may come out to speak with you to point out what's vegetarian and what's not. They may also have options not on the menu.
Boma - Flavors of Africa (Animal Kingdom Lodge, Table Service Buffet) // We love this African-themed restaurant because it's an amazing buffet filled with options for everyone. Dishes you must try: Carrot-Ginger Soup, Lentils and Hearts of Palm Salad, and Fufu.
Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen (Magic Kingdom, Table Service) // If you're a fan of the Jungle Cruise attraction, then you'll enjoy dining with the Skippers at this spot that has some of the best vegetarian options at Disney World to choose from. Dishes you must try: Shiriki Noodle Salad, Falls Family Falafel, and Curried Vegetable Crew Stew.
Tusker House (Animal Kingdom, Table Service Buffet) // Pretty much all of the restaurants in the Animal Kingdom area have solid vegetarian options, and Tusker House one of those on that list. Note that this is a character dining restaurant, so expect Mickey and friends to pay you a visit while you dine. Dishes you must try: Black Eyed Pea Salad, Samosas, and Spiced Vegetable Tofu.
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant (Hollywood Studios, Table Service) // Not only will you have vegetarian options at this location, you also get to enjoy your meal in a car shaped booth while watching vintage sci-fi movie clips. Dishes you must try: Fried Dill Pickles, Caprese Sandwich, and the Vegetarian Falafel Sandwich.
The Wave... of American Flavors (Contemporary Resort, Table Service) // This restaurant is all about fresh, seasonal dishes and thankfully, some are vegetarian! Dishes you must try: Harvest Salad, Seared Potato Gnocchi, and Dashi Noodle Bowl.
Coral Reef Restaurant (Epcot, Table Service) // Even though this is a seafood restaurant, there are some vegetarian offerings you may love. Dishes you must try: Seasonal House Salad, Teriyaki-glazed Tofu Bowl, and The Chocolate Wave.
Sanaa (Animal Kingdom Lodge, Table Service) // This restaurant is renowned for its bread service that comes with an array of delicious dips. We highly recommend it! Dishes you must try: Indian-Style Bread Service, Salad Sampler, and African-inspired Biryani.
Morimoto Asia (Disney Springs, Table Service) // If you love Japanese cuisine and sushi, then you must make a stop to this Iron Chef owned restaurant! There is plenty for you to choose from which makes it one of our best vegetarian options at Disney World picks. Dishes you must try: Vegetable Egg Rolls, Vegetable Sushi Rolls, and Wok Sautéed Chinese Vegetables.
Columbia Harbour House (Magic Kingdom, Quick Service) // This is a Magic Kingdom nautical/colonial times themed inn that offers mostly seafood fare, but there are also a few veggie dishes to choose from. Dishes to try: Broccoli Peppercorn Salad, Vegetarian Chili.
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe (Magic Kingdom, Quick Service) // This western-themed quick service restaurant, found in Frontierland, offers several tasty vegetarian options. Bonus: There is a serve yourself fixins' bar that includes pico de gallo and guacamole! Dish to try: Veggie Rice Bowl.
Satu'li Canteen (Animal Kingdom, Quick Service) // This is one of the newer restaurants in Animal Kingdom and you will find it in Pandora - The World of Avatar. The menu is not a standard one and includes many interesting (and tasty!) dishes. Dishes to try: Chili-Spiced Crispy Fried Tofu Bowl and Vegetable Steamed Curry Pods - Bao Buns.
Harambe Market (Animal Kingdom, Quick Service) // Again, you can't go wrong when spending the day at Animal Kingdom, because it's a park that's bursting with veggie options for everyone. Dish to try: Grilled Vegetable Stack.
Tangierine Café (Epcot World Showcase (Morocco), Quick Service) // This spot is one of the best vegetarian options at Disney World and is also a must-do each time we visit because of their delicious veggie platter and sides that are all on the healthier side. Dish to try: Vegetable Platter.
Sunshine Seasons (Epcot, Quick Service) // You'll find this restaurant in Epcot's Land Pavilion. They offer many different types of foods and a huge list of desserts to choose from. Dishes to try: Vegan Flatbread and the Vegan Korma with Meatless Chik'n.
Backlot Express (Hollywood Studios, Quick Service) // Backlot Express isn't heavily themed with Star Wars, but some of the dishes and desserts give a nod to the franchise, so this may be a fun spot if you are a Star Wars fan. Dish to try: Caprese Sandwich.
Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza (Disney Springs, Quick Service) // Everyone loves pizza, especially when it's made especially for you! You get to choose exactly what you want your pie to be topped with (tons of veggies to choose from, there's even gluten free dough and vegan cheese!) and then it's fast-fired and appears at your table before you know it. We think it's one of the quickest and best vegetarian options at Disney World. Tip: Once you finish your pizza, head on over to Erin McKenna's Bakery NYC for dessert (it's one of our favorite spots at Disney Springs!) Dishes to try: Build Your Own Pizza or the Veg Out Pizza.
Those are just some of our picks, and we wish we could list them all! Since we can't, tell us: what are your picks for the best vegetarian options at Disney World?
