Happy New Year! January 1st doesn’t just mark the first day of the new year, it’s also the one-year anniversary of The Type A Housewife. I started this blog a year ago not really knowing what I wanted to write about, but I think in the past few months I’ve found my niche and I’m sticking with it. Until I find another niche that I like better. Just kidding! Whether you’ve been with me from the beginning or just discovered my blog recently, I want to thank you for reading, for sharing, and for commenting. I appreciate you all so much and I hope that 2012 brings wonderful things for you!

Chocolate Pomegranate Granola Bites // A relatively healthy cookie–imagine that!
Food Photography with an iPhone // Although I’ve moved on from taking photos with my iPhone, I’m still using most of these techniques in my photography.

Cranberry Chipotle Ketchup // This was the second photograph I had accepted on FoodGawker. Although I was thrilled about the first one, I think it was the second that made me realize, “Hey, maybe I’m kind of good at this whole food blogging thing.”
Chocolate Peppermint Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches // I love this because it’s delicious. And also because this is the first picture I took for my blog with my real, grown-up camera. I’m not happy with the way it turned out (there’s a weird color cast in it!), but I think it represents another moment of growth for me as a blogger.
Dark Chocolate Pomegranate Mousse Cups // Here’s another that I should photograph again. But anyway! This was the first recipe that I came up with myself (or at least the first one I came up with for my blog). And you really wouldn’t know this is made with tofu.
My Visit to the J.R. Watkins Factory // My first big official blog trip to visit one of my favorite brands.
10 Random Thoughts About Beverly Hills 90210 Reruns & Season 7 of Beverly Hills, 90210 is the Worst // I wrote these posts mostly to amuse myself. Because I’m sure I’m the only one who remembers Joanie’s inexplicable pregnancy and Matt the mall lawyer.

Thank you for your comments, email, and concern after my post about blacking out at the salon. I followed up with my primary care doctor and he thinks it’s vasovagal syncope, which I’ve been diagnosed with before. (The best part of this diagnosis is that you get told to EAT MORE SALT. That? I can do. Especially if it’s fancypants sea salt.) I’m still convinced it was somehow migraine-related, because I’ve been having migraines and auras more than usual since this all happened. But what do I know!
