Weekend Ramblings | Birthday Weekend

Miso in Tissue Paper

Friday was my birthday, but since I had a migraine all day (again!), we didn’t really do much. So on Saturday, I loaded up on Excedrin and my husband and I went to the fancypants mall in Durham. I really wanted cheesecake for my birthday, so we went to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch. I think this kind of confirms the fact that I’m pretty much the suburbanest suburban that ever suburbaned. While the husband had a burger topped with fried macaroni and cheese AND cheese sauce, I got my usual…

Grilled Portabella on a Bun & Fries…Grilled Portabella on a Bun. (Sorry for the horrendous phone picture.) And then since we were at the fancypants mall, I had to stop at Anthro and Crate & Barrel. My husband’s birthday present was my camera, which he gave to me last month, but I decided to give myself a little something too…

Anthro Whale Glass…it’s a glass! With a whale on it! And I love it! I’ve been wanting this for a few weeks, but it seemed like such a frivolous purchase. But hey, it’s my birthday, so why not go crazy, right? I love the fact that the back says…

It's Okay…”it’s okay.” Because there’s nothing I love more than absurdity. I bought a few other things too and Crate & Barrel wrapped the heck out of it all, so when we got home, my cats were happy to have tissue paper to frolic in.

Miso Playing with Tissue PaperSo yeah, it was an exciting birthday. Cheesecake! Excedrin! Glasses with whales on them! And today I’m making applesauce and catching up on blog things, which seems fitting for a chilly, rainy day. I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend too!

Happy, Happy Birthday to you! I’m sorry that you started it with a migraine. ! It sounds like you ended having a fun time with good food and some retail therapy. Did your husband really have a burger topped with fried macaroni and cheese AND cheese sauce? I can’t wrap my head around that one. haha

YES! In his defense, it was a veggie burger–I mean, it could have been worse, right? 🙂 But yeah, The Cheesecake Factory has a burger that’s topped with a slab of fried mac & cheese and cheese sauce too. My heart hurts just thinking about it.

Yes, it could have definitely been worse…health wise. I would have never put that combination together though….taste wise….but it’s probably fantastic. I have had hamburger steaks with mac and cheese on the side and that’s a great combination. I’ve never eaten at a Cheesecake Factory before. It sounds like they have some really creative meals there.

Before moving here, we hadn’t been to one in a long time since they didn’t have them in Madison. They do have a lot of creative dishes and their menu is huuuuge! The best part is the cheesecake, of course. 🙂

Happy Birthday to you! May this trip around the sun be full of adventure, happiness, and lots of fun!

I love your whale glass – it’s great! One thing I’m dying to know – which kind of Cheesecake did you choose???

Thank you! I got the one with peanut butter cup & Butterfinger pieces. SO good. 🙂 We got our cheesecake to go and I wanted to take a picture of mine, but it took a beating during the 40 minute drive back–it wasn’t a pretty sight.

Happy birthday again! You forgot to mention which flavor of cheesecake you got. I’m weird and don’t really care too much for the food at the Cheesecake Factory and especially not their iced tea but I’m a sucker for their cheesecakes (all of them I’ve tried).

I was going to take a picture, but it ended up all smashed because we took it home! I got the peanut butter cup ripple one, the one with pb cups and Butterfinger pieces. And you are crazy, the iced tea at the Cheesecake Factory is my favorite! 🙂

Thank you! I love the glass too, I just have to figure out a way to work it into some of my photos. 😉

I got a Canon T2i. I love it! So much! My husband knew I was anxious to get my camera, so he gave it to me as soon as he got it. Definitely a BIG difference from taking pictures with my phone.

Awww the one weekend I don’t read blogs and I missed your birthday. Hope you had a nice time at Cheesecake Factory 🙂 Wishing you a wonderful year ahead.
