9 Decadent Vegan Desserts We Love
It used to be that if you didn’t do eggs and dairy, desserts were pretty much off-limits. Quelle horreur! Thankfully, we’ve come a long way from the days of sorbet being considered the only legitimate vegan dessert option. (No offense, sorbet.) Enough vegan versions of chocolate bars, puddings, cookies and even ice creams are on the market now that there are tons of options for every taste—so we’ve rounded up our go-to vegan desserts for summer and beyond. (Note that we received samples for review on products marked with an asterisk.)

1. BarkThins Snacking Chocolate

You won’t just “snack” on this, you’ll straight up inhale it. My favorites are the Toasted Coconut and Pumpkin Seed varieties. (Note: BarkThins are made with sugar that’s been through a non-vegan refining process, so they aren’t certified vegan.) -DR

4. So Delicious Dairy Free Cashew Milk Frozen Dessert*

I’m going to go out on a limb and say this is the best ice cream I’ve ever had—vegan or no. It was just as rich and creamy as “regular” ice cream, but didn’t have that weird cloying taste that dairy frozen desserts can sometimes have. I loved the Salted Caramel Cluster and Snickerdoodle the best, but the Cappuccino and Creamy Cashew (similar to a vanilla with just a hint of nuttiness) were awesome blended in iced coffee. Plus, they are all dairy-free, egg-free, gluten free, GMO free, carrageenan-free. -DR

5. Rice Dream Mint Chocolate Frozen Pies

What could possibly make minty rice-milk ice cream sandwiched between two soft oatmeal cookies any better? Dip the whole thing in non-dairy chocolate, of course. Grabbing one of these at the supermarket is my go-to way to treat myself after an annoying grocery-shopping trip. (Heads up: These are made in a shared facility with egg products.) -DR

6. ZenSoy Almond Pudding

It should be no surprise that almond milk makes a perfect pudding. These ones are convenient to keep in the fridge or pack in lunches. (You could also eat one for dessert, not that we’ve ever done that.) -KF

7. Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss

Luna & Larry’s describes the mint in their coconut-based Mint Galactica dessert as “exhilarating,” and we’d really have to agree. They were right about that “bliss” thing, too. -KT

8. Soy Dream Lil’ Dreamers

Vegan ice cream is good. Rich vanilla soy vegan ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate cookies is better, so much better that you might never even know it was vegan. -AS

9. Hail Merry Caramel Sea Salt Macaroons

Vegan and caramel, you say? In the same cookie? These sweet-salty coconut delights are made by dehydrating the ingredients at a low temperature. They’re also downright addictive. -KF
